The State of Osun Public Procurement Law Amendment Bill 2020 has on Monday scaled second reading at the Osun State House of Assembly.
The bill sponsored by the Executive arm of government was laid before the House at a plenary held last week.
At today’s plenary, the Majority Leader, Hon. Maruf Olanrewaju moved the motion for the bill to be read for the second time, a motion seconded by Hon. Hadrullai Adegbile representing Olaoluwa State Constituency.
In his remarks, the Speaker, Rt. Hon Timothy Owoeye said there should be value for money in all processes and transactions in the state.
He said the bill would allow relevant authorities carry out effective oversight functions. He also stressed the need for people to participate in open policy and ensure openness in all government operations.
Other lawmakers who contributed also noted that the bill would enlarge process of purchasing in government business, promote accountability and allow judicious spending.
