The National Commission for Museums and Monuments in collaboration with Center for Black Culture and International Understanding in the state of Osun on Thursday held a memorial lecture at the Center for Black Culture and International Understanding, Abere, Osogbo for the adherents of Traditional African Religion, Ulli Beier and Susanne Wenger.
The memorial lecture which was targeted at appreciating the efforts of the two traditional legends in the State of Osun and chart a way forward to making the African Traditional Religion attractive to the upcoming generation.
One of the guests speakers at the event, Prof. Oyeronke Olademo, A professor of Comparative Religious Studies from the University of Ilorin while speaking on the exploits of Susanne Wenger in making the Osun Osogbo Groove, said that all the monuments in the groove were the works of Susanne Wenger and Ulli Beier.
“Susanne Wenger was a symbol of spirituality in all sense and that is why her adopted children continue to walk in her steps by keeping the festival going every year. She also represents the artistic beauty of the present Osun Osogbo Groove by putting in all her efforts to put up the face Osun Osogbo Festival wears today”.
The programme also featured an interactive session, stage music, acrobatic displays and other forms of traditional entertainment.
