The Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye on Thursday visited the scene of Ojatuntun fire incidents in Ile-Ife to assess the level of damage done by the inferno and also to condole with the victims who lost goods and property worth millions of naira.
The Speaker, in the company of his deputy, Hon. Femi Popoola and some members of the state parliament sympathized with the market women and also assessed the level of damage done to the section of the market as a result of the fire disaster.

He used the opportunity to assure the victims that the state government under Governor Gboyega Oyetola would fashion out a way of assisting the victims. He also promised that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Osun State Emergency Management (OSEMA) and other relevant government agencies would provide necessary succor to the victims.

In his words, Rt. Hon. Owoeye said, “The State of Osun House of Assembly sympathize with the market women and traders who lost their valuables and property to this ugly fire incident. “

“We want to sincerely sympathize with the victims of this incident and I believe that the state government of Osun under the leadership of our amiable Governor, Ogbeni Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, will find a way to assist and provide succor to the traders.”
“I want to appeal to the market women especially those that are using electricity in their shops to ensure that whenever they are done with their daily activities, they should endeavor to switch off their gadgets to avoid fire disaster due to high voltage.”

“I must not fail to sympathize with our Kabiyesi, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, on the inferno that happened in this market because we learnt that it is the biggest market in Ife land and in one way or another, there is no way it won’t affect the economic activities in Ife, he concluded.
Immediately after his assessment of the fire incident, the speaker of the state house of assembly led his entourage to the palace of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, where he commiserated with the royal father and the people of Ife in general.
On the entourage of the speaker were the deputy speaker of the house of assembly, Hon. Femi Popoola, the majority leader, Hon. Olanrewaju Moruf, the Chief Whip, Hon. Lekan Olatunji, Hon. Olateju Nasirudeen, Hon. Mulikat Abiola, Hon. Elizabeth Abioye, Hon. Desmond Ojo, Hon. Hadirullahi Adegbile, Hon. Adeyemi Adewumi, Hon. Olajide Adeyeye and Hon. Taiwo Adebusola.
