June 12: Babayemi felicitates with Nigerians, charges leaders on Youth empowerment

A front line politician from Osun West senatorial district and Chieftain of Action Democratic Party, Prince Dotun Babayemi, has felicitated with Nigerians on the celebration of this year’s democracy which the federal government has gazetted as the official democracy day.

In a press statement personally signed by him and released to newsmen today, the Osun West ADP senatorial candidate in the last general elections urged Nigerian leaders to see to the empowerment of Nigerian youths through the productive engagements.

In his words, the security and development expert said, ” Exactly 26 years ago, Nigerians, irrespective of ethnic, religious, class and regional affiliations, stood with one voice with their votes during the June 12, 1993 elections”

“What we are witnessing today as Democratic Rule wouldn’t have been possible if the June 12 election annulment had not elicited resistance and resolute demonstrations against the military regimes”

“We need to salute the courage and dedication of men and women who suffered intimidations and persecutions of our popular will that is known today as a democracy”

“Kudos to President Muhammadu Buhari for signing into law the Public Holiday (Amendment) Bill which legalizes June 12 as Nigeria’s Democracy day against May 29”

“Have we fared any better, as a nation, since the commencement of democratic dispensation in the country on May 29, 1999?”

“To achieve a true democracy, we must, therefore, see to the empowerment of our youths through productive engagements”

“The judiciary must resist any attempt to abuse its processes; our health care system must function optimally”

*We must also ensure a credible and transparent electoral process”

“Fellow Nigerians, the efforts of our heroes past and present must not be wasted”

“There’s a need for us to stand up and be counted for this noble cause”, he concluded.
