VC Seeks Police Support For Security

Prof. Labode Popoola, the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Osun State University, has solicited the support of Osun Police Command in maintaining peace and order in the University.

Popoola made the request during a courtesy visit by the management of the university to the Commissioner of Police (CP) in Osun, Mrs. Abiodun Ige, on Friday in Osogbo.

The VC, who commended the police for coming to the aid of the University during the recent crisis that engulfed the institution, said more of such support was needed by the institution.

He noted that the university, which was established 12 years ago, had continued to face leadership crises due to incessant industrial actions.

The VC, however, said that peace had since returned to the institution in the past few months.

In her remarks, Ige commended Popoola for making the environment conducive for students; and also for his efforts towards ensuring peace in the institution.

According to the CP, Osun is one of the most peaceful states in the country in spite of large number of tertiary institutions located in the state.

She commended the Management of the university for the courtesy visit.

Ige assured the delegation that the command would do everything within its purview to support the university and other institutions in the state in maintaining peace and order on campuses.
