Osun CSOs allege plan to remove ADC from ballot

Network of Civil Society Groups in Osun State has accused President Bola Tinubu and the Independent National Electoral Commission of crippling opposition parties in the country.

The group also vowed to resist any attempt to manipulate the August 15 gubernatorial election in Osun State, calling on Nigerians to rise against one-party system.

Addressing the media on Thursday in Osogbo, the coalition alleged that there was a grand scheme to remove the African Democratic Congress from the ballot.

Speaking on behalf of the coalition, the convener of Citizenship Civic Awareness Centre (CCAC), Yaya Ademola, alleged that the crisis in the ADC was deliberately orchestrated, urging the INEC to respect the Supreme Court ruling and not dabble into party affairs.

Ademola said Osun people would not accept a candidate imposed through a rigged election, warning the APC and INEC against sabotaging electorates will of the electorate.

“It is a grand scheme of the incumbent Federal ruling Party to deny the people of Osun their legitimate democratic choices. APC, Tinubu and INEC’s diabolical agenda on the Nigerian people, democracy, human rights and the rule of law cannot and will never work or stand.

“So, by hook or crook. APC plots to deploy Federal might, buys votes, deploys Stormtroopers for unprecedented harassment and repression. All geared to “grab, snatch and run away” with the results and stolen victory. This explains the recent criminal boasts of the APC candidate of playing a penalty into a goal post with no goalkeeper!

“We want to expressly state that every attempt to manipulate the Osun gubernatorial election against the will of the people will be resisted and woefully fail!

“The people will never accept a candidate imposed through a rigged election. The people will be vigilant and do everything legitimately possible to achieve a free, fair and credible election and make the most favoured candidate win,” Ademola stated.
