Osun varsity launches Institute of Peace and Security Studies

The management of Fountain University, Osogbo, has officially announced the take-off of its Institute of Peace and Security Studies (IPSS).

The management in a statement, said the institute is committed to addressing contemporary security challenges and promoting sustainable peace within Nigeria and beyond.

The commencement of the Institute’s activities was formally signalled during a courtesy visit by members of the Institute to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim, at her office.

Speaking during the engagement, the Vice-Chancellor, expressed confidence in the Institute’s capacity to contribute meaningfully to national and global conversations on peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and security management. She emphasised that the establishment of the Institute aligns with the University’s vision of providing solution-driven education that responds to societal needs.

She noted that the Institute of Peace and Security Studies will offer a range of academic and professional programmes, including Certificate courses, Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Professional Master’s degrees, M.Phil, M.Phil/Ph.D, and PhD in Peace and Security Studies.

“These programmes are designed to cater to a diverse audience, including security professionals, policymakers, researchers, and individuals interested in peace and conflict studies,” she noted.
