The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Owa Adesuyi Haastrup, on Monday, commissioned Ijesa Golf and Country Club situated at the premises of the University of Ilesa.
The monarch who performed the tape-cutting ceremony declared the place to be both a relaxation centre and an avenue of social connections.
Owa Haastrup said the creation of the golf course within the University community was a symbol of excellence.
While encouraging the people to join the club, Oba Haastrup stated that the 18-hole golf course would continue to be a testimony of growth, noting that the calibre of those who had come for the game within the little time of its existence was a pointer of greater things to come.
In his remarks, the Chairman Board of Trustees of the Golf, Hon. Gbenga Onigbogi, said the institution was the first university in Nigeria to have such a game of 18 hole-golf course.
