Osun court remands six for alleged assault on NSCDC personnel

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State command, has arraigned six (6) suspects before the Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo for allegedly assaulting its personnel at the Gbongan area of the state.

The suspects, according to the command are: Alatise (22), Akeem (31), Jimoh (41), Adeshina (36), Oladele (36) and Ayodele (36).

The command in a statement by its command spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke, said the NSCDC personnel on Thursday, 26th March, 2026, were on routine patrol to secure critical national assets and infrastructure in the state.

The statement stated that the officers directed one of the suspects, who was a tanker driver to park the vehicle for proper verification.

“However, the suspects were alighting from the truck when one of them poured water on the officer on duty.

“This action escalated into a fracas as the suspects started fighting the officers resulting in serious body injuries on the personnel of the Corps,” Adeleke added.

The suspects, according to the statement were arraigned in court on charges bordering on conspiracy, obstruction of lawful duty and assault on a public officer in the discharge of his official responsibilities.

The Court remanded all the defendants and adjourned till Tuesday 31st March 2026 for plea.
