NYSC takes free medical screening to Osun community

The National Youth Service Corps, Osun State, on Monday conducted a free medical screening for residents of Abere and its environs.

The medical screening under the Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) was part of activities organised by the Alabere of Abere, Oba Dr Adefemi Mutalib Adelakin, to commemorate his 40th birthday anniversary.

In his address, the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr Ekeng Kubiangha, commended Corps Members particularly the Corps Medical personnel, for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to service.

He emphasised that the HIRD programme remains a vital component of the NYSC Community Development Service, designed to complement government efforts in delivering quality healthcare to rural communities.

The Alabere of Abere, in his goodwill message lauded the NYSC for bringing the initiative to his domain, describing the programme as timely and impactful.

The Monarch urged residents to take full advantage of the opportunity to benefit from the free medical services and to adopt regular health checks as part of their lifestyle.

The outreach featured a range of free medical services, including weight checks, vital signs assessment, malaria parasite (MP) screening, medical consultations, and general health evaluations.
