Osun police arrest serial phone snatcher, buyer

The Osun State Police Command has arrested two suspects who specialise in snatching phones and receiving stolen property.

The command said the suspects – Muideen Adejumo and Omoyoye Asimiyu were arrested by police detectives from Ikirun Divisional Headquarters.

Providing a brief of the matter, the spokesperson for the command, Abiodun Ojelabi, in a statement on Wednesday, said the police operatives on March 04, 2026, received credible information about the activities of a serial phone snatcher operating within Ikirun town.

He added that upon receipt of the information, the police detective immediately swung into action and arrested one of the suspects – Muideen Adejumo at Isale Agunji area, Ikirun, while on his way to Ibadan.

Ojelabi said four phones including a Techno Spark, an Itel and Huawei and an iPhone 11 were recovered from the suspects.

“Suspect was found in possession of the above-named exhibits. During preliminary interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and stated that he was on his way to Ibadan to sell the phones.

“Further investigation led to the arrest of one of the receivers; one Omoyoye Asimiyu ‘m ’. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the other mentioned accomplices. Suspects have been charge to court and remanded,” the statement added.
