A coalition of concerned citizens and stakeholders from Irepodun and Orolu Local Government Areas of Osun State, Justice Forum, has urged Governor Ademola Adeleke against the imposition of the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency in the state House of Assembly for the 2027 general elections.
The coalition in a communiqué signed by its chairman, Mr Rasheed Faluade, a copy obtained on Thursday in Osogbo, said the governor should allow the people to choose their representative, adding that imposing an individual may backfire.
The group assured it unwavering support for the re-election of Governor Adeleke, adding that the governor has performed well since he assumed office.
“It is essential to respect the unwritten tradition of allowing the people to choose their representative, and we will not tolerate any attempt to undermine this principle. Whilst we are not against consensus as provided in the new electoral act; it is pertinent to guide His Excellency that a few anti-democratic forces have started using his goodwill to actualise imposition that may backfire!,” the communique partly read.
The coalition also urged the state governor to look into the dualisation of the Lameco Osogbo – Ilobu road up to the Osun State boundary in Ifon/Ogbomoso road.
“This is a long-overdue project that will significantly improve the lives of our people. We are expecting this commitment as part of his campaign promises to our people,” the communique noted.
The group further called on traditional rulers in Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun to strengthen their unity and focus on the development of their areas.
