LG funds: Osogbo traders protest at UBA, vows to close accounts

Some traders in Osogbo, Osun State capital, on Monday, stormed the Olonkoro branch of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc to protest what they described as the unjust withholding of local government funds.

The protesters accused UBA of complicity and vowed to close their accounts with the bank.

In a video obtained by osun.life, one of the protesters, said the alleged withholding of the local government funds has affected the traders’ sales.

“We are traders in Osun State and we can barely feed three times a day. If civil servants have their money stuck in the bank, how would they pay and patronise us who sell goods well? Everyone is feeling the impact.

“We are here to close our accounts in the United Bank of Africa due to the situation.

“We are also appealing to President Bola Tinubu to release the Osun local government money. The suffering is too much,” she stated.
