Fire razes Osun poly students’ hostel

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has confirmed a fire outbreak which occurred at a private hostel on Thursday night.

A statement by the SUG president, Emmanuel Ajayi, on Friday, said the fire incident resulted in the destruction of the affected hostel and led to the loss of personal belongings and properties of the occupants.

The statement appreciated the swift response of the firefighters whose timely intervention prevented the fire from escalating and affecting nearby hostels.

The statement, sympathised with the victims of the incident and acknowledged the emotional and material losses suffered.

The Union assures all victims that it will serve as their voice in dialogue with the school management to ensure: ‘?”Recovery and revalidation of vital academic documents lost in the fire.

“Furthermore, the Students’ Union will work closely with relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure adequate safety measures are put in place to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.”
