The Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, Dr Man Yahaya Sani, has appealed to the newly admitted students of the institution to avoid the temptation to take shortcuts for success or engage in any form of academic dishonesty.
Dr Sani equally said Technical and Vocational Education and Training is the catalyst for national economic growth and development, adding that institutions must provide quality education to the citizenry.
The Rector stated this on Friday during the 32nd matriculation ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic session held at the school sports pavilion.
Dr Sani noted that a total of 12, 797 students were admitted across programmes at both the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels.
He urged the new intakes to be morally upright and steer clear of acts that are tantamount to negative tendencies and could jeopardise their admission.
Sani said, “It is important that you pay constant attention and be very deliberate about
how you spend your time each day. Avoid the temptation to take shortcuts or to engage in any form of academic dishonesty. You might get away with it temporarily but it often catches up in the end.
“I admonish you to be morally upright and steer clear of acts that are tantamount to negative tendencies which are
against good character and learning. You are to shun all forms of social vices such as cultism, examination malpractices, riot, looting, indecent dressing, sexual misbehaviour, and fraudulent
behaviour that could mar your future.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the solution to a nation’s emancipation from poverty and its overall development rests largely
on the quality of Education it provides its citizenry. The government’s emphasis on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is a direct response to the economic realities of our nation and serves as a catalyst for national
economic growth and development. To ensure that this objective is actualised, the
Federal Polytechnic, Ede has established three key Centres, namely, the National Skills Qualification (NSQ) Training
Centre, the Career Centre and the Entrepreneurship Centre.”
Giving a breakdown of the matriculating students, the Rector noted that, “177 students are from the school of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology, 1,318 are from the school of Applied Sciences, 2,905 from the school of Business and Management studies and 2,529 are from the school of Communication and Information Science.

Dr Sani urged the new students to take advantage of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund scheme, adding that a total of 2,059 students of the institution benefited under the Program in the last one year.
“I salute President Bola Tinubu for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund program. In the last year, a total of 2,059 of our students have benefited from the Student Loan Program. I encourage you to embrace this noble cause of Mr President,” the Rector added.
