Ramadan/Lent: Adeleke cuts Osun civil servants’ working hours

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has approved a reduction in the working hours of civil servants in the state.

The governor directed the Public servants to close work by 2 pm from Mondays to Thursdays and 1 pm on Fridays during the ongoing Ramadan and Lent period.

This was disclosed in a circular signed by the head of service, Mr Stanley Aina on Thursday.

The circular noted that the move was part of the state government’s welfare packagefor its workforce.

It noted that the gesture was to enable Public Servants have sufficient time to pray for the existing peace and tranquillity in the State to continue unhindered.

The circular, however, stated that those on essential services, especially medical personnel, are excluded
from the arrangement in view of the life-saving nature of their duties.

“Accordingly, all Political Office holders, Accounting Officers of Ministries,
Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Heads of non-Ministerial Agencies and Local Government Areas as well as Local Council Development Authorities are requested to comply and give the contents of this Circular wide publicity among
their staff,” the circular added.
