The Senator representing Osun East, Francis Fadahunsi, on Thursday, distributed foodstuffs and clothing materials to elderly women and widows in Ile-Ife.
Fadahunsi who is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Industries, said apart from the foodstuffs, the beneficiaries were also given financial aid.
The lawmaker who disclosed this in a statement on his Facebook page on Friday said the outreach took place at Oba Okunade Sijuwade Hall in Enuwa, Ile-Ife.
Represented by his wife, Mrs Adeola Fadahunsi, the senator highlighted the program’s focus on often-overlooked groups like elderly women and widows. It also supports youth development and general welfare to ease economic hardships and honour their societal contributions.
Senator Fadahunsi wrote, “It was another privilege to celebrate and honour the Elderly and widows in Ile-Ife. We had the honour to share food items and clothing materials including a token for transportation to these women who have laboured tirelessly for their husbands and children.
“It is our hope that the number of beneficiaries will increase as the program matures.”
