The Osun Police Command has arrested and arraigned a 54-year-old suspected scammer, Ojo David Oluwaseun who allegedly defrauded unsuspecting victims under false pretences of securing a travel visa for them.
According to a statement by the command spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, the suspect, in January 2025, allegedly defrauded two people to the tune of three million, six hundred thousand naira (N3, 600,000).
Providing the brief of the matter, Ojelabi said, the victims were introduced by one of their friends to the suspect who presented himself as a travel agent.
The police spokesperson said the suspect collected the money with a promise to help the victims process their visa and ticket to travel to Luxembourg in the United Kingdom but absconded.
“In the course of investigation, it was discovered that the suspect has duped other victims with the sum of four million, eight hundred and ten thousand naira (N4,810,000), totalling the sum of eight million, four hundred and ten thousand naira (N8,410,000),” Ojelabi stated.
He added that the suspect had been charged in court and remanded in correctional facility.
