The Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has commended the Nigeria Police Force, Zone XI Command, over the ongoing investigation into the alleged murder of some members of the party in Boripe Local Government Area during the February 17 mayhem over the control of councils in the state.
osun.life reports that five people have been confirmed arrested by the police in connection with the incident.
In a statement released on Thursday by the chairman of the PDP in Osun State, Sunday Bisi, the party commended the steps taken so far by the Zone XI Command in response to the petition submitted regarding the incident.
Bisi urged the operatives to sustain their professionalism and commitment to justice until all those responsible for this heinous crime are brought to book.
The party reiterated its firm position that no political ambition is worth the blood of innocent citizens. Anyone found to be involved in the killing of fellow citizens must be made to face the full weight of the law, irrespective of political affiliation or status.
The PDP emphasised that a thorough, impartial, and transparent handling of this matter will further help to sustain the relative peace currently being enjoyed in Osun State, especially under the administration of His Excellency, Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, who has consistently promoted peace, rule of law, and tolerance.
