Again, gunmen invade Osun community, abduct two

Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen have abducted two residents of Ora-Igbomina, an Osun community located on the boundary with Kwara State.

The incident, according to sources, happened some minutes to midnight on Sunday at a private residence along Aran-Orin Road, Papa, Ora-Igbomina.

The latest abduction occurred less than two months ago when one Emmanuel Owolabi was kidnapped in front of his house in Ora by suspected bandits.

He was, however, freed on January 12 at Oro Ago, a community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, after the payment of ransom.

The spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the incident, adding that the command had commenced a search and rescue operation to free the victims.

He further said, “The incident occurred at around 11:45 p.m on Sunday. Our men who went for patrol but went back to their base when the rain started to fall. It was during that period that those people perpetrated that evil act.

“Tayese Adeyeye and Sunday Adewumi were abducted. The search and rescue teams moved in immediately after the report got to us. They have been combing the area.”
