Alubarika Movement knocks Wike, tells FCT Minister to stop meddling in APC affairs

A political group loyal to the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ajibola Basiru, ‘The ALUBARIKA Movement’, has cautioned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Nyesom Wike, against pulling the former Osun Central Senator into River State politics.

The Movement, in a statement by its chairman, Alhaji Kehinde Olamolu, said Basiru’s call for respect for the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, is within his purview as the National Secretary of the party, and shouldn’t have called for barbed remarks from Mr Wike.

Responding to Wike’s remarks that Basiru is enjoying what others did, the Alubarika Movement said the APC scribe was on the legal team that secured victory for the Action Congress in 2010 when the court sacked the PDP government.

“Dr Basiru is not a political minnow. He served his Osun State diligently as a two-term Commissioner and represented Osun Central at the 9th Senate. He played roles that have continued to give him reckoning in political discourse across the country.”

The Movement added that the emergence of Dr Ajibola Basiru as the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress has strengthened the fortunes of the party as its volume continues to expand with the influx of Governors, Senators, Members of the House of Representatives, serving and former, into the Progressives fold.

“If Basiru were to be like Wike, who sees politics as a means of feathering his own nest, Osun APC would have been in disarray with what played out before the party could produce its standard bearer ahead of this year’s Governorship poll.”

“Mr Wike threatened that Basiru would burn his finger. We tell him that the National Secretary of the party is scandal-free. He has no political scandal hanging on his neck, and his academic records at the University of Lagos and the Nigerian Law School are immaculate.”

The Alubarika Movement calls on Wike to focus on his duties as a Minister and refrain from interfering in APC matters, as he is not a member, remarking that the late Chief Bola Ige of the Alliance for Democracy served as a Minister in the PDP government without meddling in the party’s affairs.

“We counsel Mr Nyesom Wike to heed the call of resignation to have time to heal his ailing PDP.”
