The Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi, the Secretary to the state Government, Teslim Igbalaye and the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, have expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Osogbo-born politician, Alhaji Fatai Diekola.
In a separate statement, Adewusi, Igbalaye and Osun APC described the late Chairman of the Osun State Board for Vocational and Technical Education as a brave politician whose legacy would live on.
A statement from the media office of the Deputy Governor, described the late Diekola as a “force of nature” in the political landscape of Osun State, whose influence stretched far beyond the borders of Osogboland.
Adewusi noted that Diekola was a man of immense conviction who understood the heartbeat of the grassroots and dedicated his life to the advocacy of political equity and social justice.
”The passing of Alhaji Fatai Diekola marks the end of an era,” the Deputy Governor stated.
“He was not just a politician; he was a master of the craft, a fearless mobilizer, and a titan who remained fiercely loyal to his principles and his people. His role in the political evolution of Osun State is etched in history, and his absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt across the length and breadth of our state.”
H.E. Prince Adewusi further remarked that Diekola’s true legacy lies in his rare ability to give a voice to the voiceless, mentoring a generation of leaders and standing as a bulwark for the masses during the most critical moments of our democratic journey.
”On behalf of the government and the people of Osun State, I extend my heartfelt commiserations to the Diekola family, the Ataoja of Osogbo, and the entire Osogbo community. We have lost a general in the field of public service and a true, courageous son of the soil.”
Also, the Secretary to the state Government, Igbalaye in a condolence statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Digital Comms, Kehinde Adeoye, described the late Diekola as a courageous and committed political figure who would stop at nothing to see progress.
He noted that his impact on the political development of Osun State would endure for generations.
“Jagun Aso dedicated his life to public service and the advancement of his community and state. His fearlessness, leadership, and commitment to progress distinguished him as a man of principle whose legacy will not be forgotten,” the SSG said.
In a statement signed by the chairman of the APC in Osun State, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, the party extended its heartfelt condolences to the immediate family, associates and the entire people of Osogbo of the deceased.
Lawal described Diekola as a seasoned and brave politician who served the state with dedication and commitment.
Lawal noted that the late Alhaji Diekola, popularly called ‘FD’, occupied important political positions during his lifetime and was widely known for his passion for public service, community development and the advancement of democratic ideals in Osun State.
According to the state APC chairman: “The late Alhaji Diekola’s contributions to politics and governance remain indelible”, adding that “his humility, wisdom and dedication to the well-being of the people earned him respect across party lines”.
