Fountain University, Osogbo (FUO), on Monday, conducted a medical outreach programme that provided free healthcare services to 210 residents of the Isale-Osun community in Osogbo.
The exercise which was done through
Department of Public Health was to reaffirm the University’s commitment to community service, public health promotion, and town-and-gown engagement.
The outreach, which was held within the Isale-Osun community in Osogbo, offered beneficiaries access to basic medical consultations, health screenings, and preventive health education.
The initiative was designed to improve health awareness, encourage early detection of common ailments, and bridge gaps in access to basic healthcare services among underserved populations.
Speaking on the initiative, the Head of the Department of Public Health, Mrs Kafayta Adegbore, described the outreach as a practical demonstration of Fountain University’s philosophy of combining academic excellence with social responsibility.
She noted that the programme was structured not only to deliver immediate medical support but also to educate community members on healthy lifestyle practices and disease prevention.
Mrs Adegbore said that such engagements provide a valuable platform for applying public health knowledge to real-life community needs while fostering mutually beneficial relationships between the University and its host communities.
She further emphasised that the outreach aligns with the Department’s mandate to contribute meaningfully to public health development, particularly at the grassroots level, through advocacy, education, and preventive healthcare initiatives.
