The All Progressives Congress has notified the Independent National Electoral Commission of its plan to conduct the primary for the nomination of a candidate for the 2026 gubernatorial election in Osun State.
In a letter signed by the national chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and the national secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, a copy obtained by osun.life, the party said the primary will come up on December 13.
It also stated that it would adopt the direct primary method, with the election of delegates for the ratification of the primary election scheduled for today, 9 December 2025.
The letter read, “In line with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released Timetable for Osun State Gubernatorial Election, this is to inform you that our Party has scheduled its Primary Election for the nomination of its Candidate for Osun State for Saturday, 13th December, 2025.
“The mode of Primaries will be Direct Primary. In accordance with the dictates of the Electoral Act, 2022 (as amended), the election of delegates for the ratification of the Primary Election will hold on 9 December 2025.
“You may wish to kindly arrange for the monitoring of the Primary Election.
“Attached herewith is the Party’s Schedule of Activities and Timetable for Osun State
“While looking forward to your usual cooperation, please, accept the assurances of our highest regards.”
