Ajilesoro commiserates OAU, Osun APC over Oyeweso’s death

The lawmaker representing Ife Federal Constituency, Hon. Taofeeq Ajilesoro, has commiserated with the management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and the All Progressives Congress in Osun State over the demise of Professor Siyan Oyeweso.

Prof. Oyeweso, who was the Pro-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, died in the early hours of Tuesday after a brief illness and has been buried according to Islamic ways.

In a condolence statement on Tuesday, Ajilesoro described Prof. Oyeweso’s death as a painful one, noting that the historian died at a time when his experience and expertise were needed.

He urged the family, friends and associates of the late academic icon to see his death as the will of God and pray to Almighty Allah to grant him eternal rest.

He said, “The death of our referred historian, Professor Siyan Oyeweso is still a shock to me. The late academic icon was a father figure and a mentor.

“His demise is a great loss to the academic community, Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State University, the progressive family in Osun, Ede and the entire state.

“I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. I pray that his soul rest in eternal peace, and may Almighty Allah comfort his family.

“Professor Oyeweso’s dedication to teaching and his contributions to research and community service will forever be remembered. He has inspired countless individuals, and his legacy will continue to live on.”
