The Senate on Thursday confirmed President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Mrs Ayo Omidiran as the new Chairman of the Federal Character Commission.

Omidiran, a former lawmaker from Osun State, was confirmed alongside Peter Eze from Enugu State and 36 other nominees as Federal Commissioners, following the presentation of a screening report by the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs.

The confirmation took place during plenary presided over by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

The chairman of the committee, Senator Allwell Onyesoh (PDP, Rivers East), while presenting the report, said all nominees appeared before the panel on Tuesday and were found to possess the competence and qualifications required for the job.
