Amidst the insecurity ravaging the country, residents of Osun have called on traditional rulers and governors in the Southwest to hold an emergency security summit.
The residents also urged the state governments to empower local security men to tackle bandits who might want to penetrate the forests.
The call was made following the renewed attack on communities in Kwara State.
The residents who spoke with osun.life said what is currently happening in Kwara State should be a wake-up call for Southwest governors.
They urged the state governments and traditional rulers to be proactive and nip the issue in the bud before it escalates.
“What is happening in Kwara is very sad, and I pray God will heal our country. However, we should know that the situation now calls for serious deliberation.
“Kwara shares borders with some Southwest states, and whatever is happening there now is a warning to us. I hope our traditional rulers and state governments will not sleep on this.
“The situation is getting serious, and I want to urge the state governments and our revered traditional rulers to convene an emergency security summit where plans to stop these deadly terrorists will be discussed,” a resident, Olabayo Ademola, said.
