The lawmaker representing Osun West, Senator Lere Oyewumi, has commenced the rehabilitation of the Ikire-Oluponna-Iwo road.
The road connected the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) Ikire Campus through Agbora and Oosa Village, extending to Oluponna in Ayedire Local Government and ends at Bowen University, Iwo.
A statement by the Media Unit of the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate noted that the intervention was to boost agricultural marketing, ease transportation, and significantly improve the socio-economic well-being of residents along the corridor.
“The commencement of the rehabilitation exercise marks another milestone in Senator Oyewumi’s ongoing efforts to expand rural infrastructure and strengthen community development.
“The project aligns seamlessly with the broader vision for improved rural access, food productivity, and increased market linkage across Osun West,” the statement noted.
The statement further said residents, community stakeholders, and farmers expressed overwhelming appreciation for the Senator’s timely intervention.
“According to them, the road, long abandoned and difficult to navigate, especially during the rainy season, had crippled economic activities and hindered movement for years,” the statement added.
