President Bola Tinubu has promised that his administration will support major projects in Iwo, Osun State.
This was as President Tinubu lauded Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, describing him as a monarch loved by his people.
The president stated this on Sunday in Iwo, during the 10th coronation anniversary of Oba Akanbi.
Tinubu who was represented by the deputy senate president, Barau Jibrin, commended Oluwo for his commitment to Yoruba cultural heritage.
Tinubu noted that Iwoland has blossomed into a beacon of identity, resilience, cultural pride and one of the enduring pillars of Osun State and Yorubaland.
“Mr President celebrates with the illustrious sons and daughters of Iwoland. Mr President joins sons and daughters of Iwoland as well as friends and associates of the influential monarch in celebrating this special occasion.
“The President notes the tremendous impact and the progressive trait of Oluwo in the past decade of his ascension to the throne. Mr President, particularly, highlighted his (Oluwo) commitment to Yoruba cultural heritage.
“Like him, or hate him, you can hardly fault his dynamism, leadership and the fact that his people really love him. Across the century, Iwo has blossomed into a beacon of identity, resilience, cultural pride and one of the enduring pillars of Osun State and indeed, of Yorubaland.
“Perhaps, the greatest treasure of Iwo is its enduring harmony. For generations, Muslims, Christians and traditional worshippers have lived side by side in peace, provided that diversity, when guarded by wisdom, becomes a source of strength.
“Your Majesty, Oluwo of Iwo, ten years on your father’s throne is no ordinary passage of time. It is a decade of grace and wisdom of visionary leadership. Under your leadership, Iwo has endured peace and commendable progress and development. You have carried the crown, not as an ornament but as a sacred covenant with your people.
“Today, we gathered here not only to celebrate your 10 years on the throne but to reaffirm the timeless bond between a king and his people.
“Let me use this to also appreciate the recognition of some of our distinguished personalities, most especially, Tunde Rahman, who is part of the presidency and works tirelessly to not only support Iwo but the entire nation. The Presidency will work with Tunde Rahman to support Iwoland on all its desired major projects,” Jibrin quoted President Tinubu as saying.
Tinubu prayed to Almighty God to “continue to grant Oluwo continued wisdom, robust health and divine strength to guide this kingdom towards loftier heights.”
