A resident of Iwo, Osun State, Tesleem Amobi, has lamented the eight-month blackout at Ode Onikumo and Kajola communities in the town.
Amobi said the eight-month blackout has crippled economic activities in the area, with traders and artisans bearing the brunt of it.
He described the situation as a failure on the part of political office-holders from the town.
He added that, “Despite countless appeals, visits, and promises, no tangible action has been taken by the political leaders representing Gídígbò Ward 1,2 & 3 in Iwo Local Government Area of Osun State.
“Those who swore to serve the people have turned a blind eye to their suffering. The politicians who once walked the streets during campaigns, begging for votes with sweet words and loud promises, have now gone silent in the face of the people’s pain,” he noted.
“The eight-month blackout has crippled local businesses, forced artisans into idleness, and plunged families into hardship. Traders who depend on electricity to power their work tools have been left stranded. Students struggle to read under the dim light of candles and lanterns. The once vibrant evening life of the community has faded into darkness and fear.”
