The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has urged security operatives to investigate the reported wave of violent attacks in Ikire, headquarters of Irewole Local Government Area of Osun, in recent weeks.
The PDP said the attacks culminated in the killing of a young innocent boy, identified as Adesile Seebu, on Saturday.
The party in a statement issued by its Director of Media, Hezekiah Oladele Bamiji (HOB), lamented the growing insecurity.
The statement alleged that the attacks were orchestrated by a supporter of one of the gubernatorial candidates under the All Progressives Congress.
The party described the situation as a “deliberate assault on the peace of Ikire and an attack on the fundamental right of its people to live without fear.
“We are raising a heartfelt Save-Our-Soul call on behalf of the people of Ikire. This is not about politics; this is about human life, community peace, and the dignity of people who simply want to live in harmony. We urge the Nigeria Police Force, DSS, NSCDC, and all relevant security agencies to immediately move in, arrest the perpetrators, and restore calm before this degenerates into a full-blown communal crisis,” the party appealed.
