Babayemi meets Iwo fire incident victims, urges government action

One of the gubernatorial aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Prince Dotun Babayemi, on Friday paid a visit to the scene of a devastating fire outbreak in Iwo, where properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.

Babayemi, during the visit, met with victims of the incident led by Alhaji Ganiyu Fatai and expressed deep sorrow over the losses they suffered.

He said: “Without mincing words, this is an unfortunate occurrence which no one can ever pray for. As painful as it is, we thank God that no life was lost to the inferno which destroyed properties worth millions of naira.”

The gubernatorial hopeful, urged the government to be more proactive in preventing and managing such disasters in the future. He called for effective emergency response mechanisms and stronger public sensitization campaigns on safety measures to prevent fire outbreaks and other disasters.

He emphasized that creating awareness and improving preparedness were essential steps in minimizing the impact of unforeseen mishaps in communities across the state.
