The Commander of Osun Amotekun, Adekunle Omoyele, has said the security outfit under him will not be deterred from fulfilling its call to duty.
This was as he said, Osun Amotekun remains resolute in upholding peace, law,, and order in every part of the state.
Omoyele stated this in his new month message to the corps personnel and Osun residents.
This is the first official statement by the Amotekun Corps Commander since his visit to the Police Force Headquarters, Abuja, to answer questions on the killings which occurred in Akinlalu.
It would be recalled that operatives of Osun Amotekun stormed Akinlalu, a community in Ife-North Local Government Area, and shot at least four people dead, with many others injured.
Following the incident, police officers from Abuja stormed the state and sealed the operation base of Osun Amotekun in Osogbo and Ife.
A few days later, Osun Amotekun announced that Omoyele, who was alleged to have gone into hiding, had travelled to Abuja to answer questions on the incident.
Omoyele, in the message, said the Corps has faced certain challenges in recent times, which have tested its resolve and dedication.
He, however, assured the people of Osun State that there is no cause for alarm.
He said, “This new month presents us with another opportunity to renew our collective hope, strengthen our unity, and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the peace, progress, and security of our beloved state.
“In recent times, the Corps has faced certain challenges that have tested our resolve and dedication. However, I want to assure the people of Osun State that there is no cause for alarm. The Osun Amotekun Corps remains steadfast, focused, and ever determined to carry out its constitutional and moral responsibility of protecting lives and property within our communities.
“To our courageous operatives, I commend your resilience, discipline, and continued dedication to duty despite the hurdles. You have demonstrated the true spirit of patriotism and service, standing firm in defense of the people even in the face of adversity. The recent challenges should not dampen our morale; rather, they should strengthen our commitment to the noble ideals for which this Corps was established.
“Let us all remember that our security is a collective responsibility. As the Corps continues to collaborate with other security agencies under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, Governor of Osun State, we remain resolute in upholding peace, law, and order in every part of our state.
“As we move into this new month, let us do so with renewed hope, greater courage, and unshakable faith in the future of Osun. The truth will always prevail, justice will be served, and the Osun Amotekun Corps will never be deterred from fulfilling its call to duty.”
