A gubernatorial aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Prince Dotun Babayemi, has said electorates are looking for a governor who has vision and can transform the state.
This was as he slammed the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke for not ‘providing’ accessible roads for rural communities.
Babayemi stated this while appearing on TVC Breakfast Saturday.
The former governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party said 65 percent of the farm produce in the state got destroyed because there are no rural roads.
Babayemi said: “What the people in the places we visited want is a government that has vision, that is able to balance things like urban and rural renewal.
“About 70 percent of Osun citizens live in the rural areas and they are farmers. Today, 65 percent of the farm produce that these farmers come up with gets destroyed on the farm because there are no rural roads.
“Nothing has been done in the last two years to ensure that we can get produce to the market to improve the economy. The people are yawning for skills development that will allow them contribute in a positive way to the economy.”
The Gbongan-born politician further said he has visited 215 wards and all the local governments in the state to consult with the electorates.
He added that the 13 aspirants under the APC were competent to deliver good governance to the people of Osun State.
“While the 13 aspirants are competent to deliver on good governance to the people of Osun, what I bring to the table is a global perspective.
“My focus has always been on the grassroots. In Osun West Senatorial District, there are 110 wards and between 2010 and now, I have visited each ward eight times for different reasons.
“I have visited the 30 local governments. After visiting the local governments, we realised that there is a lot of work still to be done. So, we embarked on ward tours. Osun has 332 wards and as of today, we have visited 215 of those wards,” Babayemi added.
