Adeleke approves Osun Babes involvement in Nigerian Women Premier League

The Osun State Government has approved the involvement of the state’s female football team, Osun Babes, in the Nigeria Women Premier League, NWPL, for the 2025/2026 season.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Football Matters, Kehinde Johnson, stated this in a statement on Friday in Osogbo.

Johnson noted that the decision followed the state government’s renewed efforts to promote sports development and enhance the participation of women in competitive football.

According to him, the approval demonstrates the administration’s continued support for the advancement of women’s sports across Osun State.

He said, “The Osun State Government has approved the participation of Osun Babes in the Nigeria Women Premier League for the 2025/2026 season,” Johnson said.

“This approval reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to encouraging sports excellence and empowering female athletes to compete at national and international levels.”
