By Tunde Olamilekan

Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East, on Tuesday, presented the Psychiatric Hospitals Management Board Act ( Amendment ) Bill 2025, SB 901, for first reading on the floor of the red chamber.

The bill, according to the lawmaker, seeks to establish a psychiatric hospital in Osun East ( Ife zone) to care for the psychiatric needs of the people of the state and neighboring states.

“This hospital will add great value to the people of Osun East, Osun state, and neighboring states,” Senator Fadahunsi noted.

He added that the hospital, besides assisting with mental health treatments, would also “provide jobs for our youths and ease the burden on the current facilities of our tertiary institutions.”

The lawmaker also said the Senate on Tuesday agreed to the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Wesley Guild, Ilesa.

“With the concurrence, the legal framework for the Federal Medical Centre is sorted. This simply means Osun East will soon be self-sufficient in health care delivery,” the lawmaker noted.
