The immediate past deputy governor of Osun State, Benedict Alabi, has stated that electorates in the state made a wrong choice in voting for Governor Ademola Adeleke in 2022.
This was as he equally said Osun people have seen that the present administration has nothing tangible to offer, noting that the All Progressives Congress is poised to reclaim the state in the August 08, 2026 election.
Alabi who is one of the aspirants eyeing the gubernatorial ticket of the APC, stated this during an interview with popular On Air Personality, Edmund Obilo, recently.
The former deputy governor noted that the defection of federal lawmakers and chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC has shown that Adeleke is not someone to fear in the forthcoming election.
He said, “Adeleke is not a governor to be feared. Today in Osun, he has already lost six federal lawmakers to the APC. People are seeing the difference between our government and the current administration. Osun people made a wrong choice in 2022 in voting for Adeleke.
“The 2022 election was rigged in favour of the PDP. We in the APC believe in protocol and discipline, and we thought our opposition was also the same, but we’ve learnt our lesson.”
Speaking on his ambition, Alabi said his experience and antecedents have positioned him well for the governorship seat.
“I contested for governorship in 2018. We had primaries, and he emerged as the candidate of the party, and we all worked for his success. It was based on my campaign that I was chosen to be his deputy.
“I’ve learn under Oyetola’s tutelage and I believe I have the vision before coming out in 2018 to contest, and the passion is still there. When Oyetola said he is not contesting again, I think the party should follow me to ensure that my aspirations are achieved,” Alabi added.
