LG Funds: I learnt the seized allocations have been released – ALGON Chair

By Tunde Olamilekan

The Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun State, elected under the All Progressives Congress, Abidoun Idowu, has said he learnt that the seized council allocations have been released.

Idowu, however, said the council chairmen were yet to receive the seven months’ withheld allocation.

The APC officials were elected in October 2022, but sacked by Governor Ademola Adeleke after a Federal Court nullified the election. However, in February 2025, the Court of Appeal reportedly reinstated them.

Reacting to the speculation that the allocation has been released into the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), accounts opened for the APC faction, Idowu said fingers are crossed over the fund.

He said: “We heard the rumour just like you, but we are yet to receive alert for the fund. We learnt that the money has been released, but we are yet to receive alerts.

“We are hopeful, once we receive it, the fund will be deploy for the development of our grassroots and a kobo of it will not be lost.”
