N678m Shrine: Osun APC accuses Adeleke of nepotism, slams gov for wastefulness

By Tunde Olamilekan

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has slammed Governor Ademola Adeleke over the approval of the sum of N678 million for the reconstruction of the Sango-Timi Shrine and Groove in Ede.

The party equally accused Adeleke of concentrating projects in his hometown at the expense of other major towns in the state.

The APC noted that the approval of four historical tourist sites in the state by the present administration was a cover-up for the controversial award of N678 million to reconstruct the Sango-Timi Shrine in Ede.

osun.life reported that residents had slammed the state government for approving the reconstruction of the Sango-Timi Shrine and Groove at the Timi of Ede’s palace.

In a statement on Thursday by the party’s director of media and information, Kola Olabisi, the APC questioned why the state government would prioritize a project which has no economic value to Osun people.

It added that the amount allocated to the shrine project is almost double the ₦376 million released by the government as Education Subsidy in the first half of the year.

The statement read in part, “Why was it that it was after the governor’s award of the N678 million contract for the construction of the Sango Shrine in his town received a wide condemnation that he thought of naming other historical tourist attraction sites across the state to be developed in phases?

“The ploy has refused to fly because it is a glaring insult to the sensibility of the people of this state, as it is a mere product of an afterthought skillfully devised to deceive the ever-vigilant and forward-looking people of the state.

“Anyone who is in abundant possession of conscience has a genuine reason to be visibly worried that the amount allocated to this shrine project is almost double the ₦376 million released by the government as Education Subsidy in the first half of the year, as shown on page 42 of the state’s Budget Implementation Report for the second quarter of 2025.

“Governor Adeleke has repeatedly been accused of concentrating development efforts in his hometown of Ede, often at the expense of other major towns. In 2025 alone, seven road projects, valued at over ₦70 billion, have been awarded for dualisation in Ede.”
