Residents accuse Adeleke of recklessness, nepotism after N678m contract award for shrine in hometown

By Tunde Olamilekan

Residents have called out the Osun State Government over the awarding of a N678 million contract for the reconstruction of the Sango-Timi Shrine and Grove at the palace of Timi of Ede, Oba Adesola Lawal.

The residents who reacted to the news of the contract accused the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, of recklessness and nepotism.

The residents who took to social media to comment on the development accused the governor of spending the majority of Osun’s funds on his hometown.

A Facebook user, Oyewole Sakariyau, questioned the benefit of the shrine to the people of the state.

He said, “If the story is true, the government needs to come out and tell the citizens of the economic benefits of the reconstruction to the growth of Osun State.”

Omotoba Adaramaja slammed the state governor for prioritising the shrine over the well-being of the people.

“When Osun people are hungry, what’s the importance of the reconstruction of Sango-Timi shrine has to do with Osun people. People are watching,” he queried.

An indigene of Ede, Bash Adams, in his comment, questioned why Governor Adeleke would put the resources of the state into the reconstruction of the shrine while other important things were begging for attention.

He wrote, “I am from Ede but, am not in support of this at all …their (sic) are lots of things that need to be done for the people of Osun State rather than this, pls.”
