Ex-Ambassador, Bello mourns the passing of Ansarudeen Chief Imam, Adekilekun

A former speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adejare Bello has expressed shock over the passing of the Chief Imam of Ansar-ud-deen Society, Ede branch, Sheikh Ibrahim Adekilekun.

Bello, in a condolence message, described the late Imam as a father figure who was one of his ardent supporters, adding that the late Imam’s contribution to humanity would be missed.

The former ambassador to Mexico noted that the late Sheikh Adekilekun’s contributions towards the development of Ede and the Muslim community can not be overemphasised.

He recounted the impactful role the late Imam played in his life in 1983, praying to God to grant him Aljannah Firdaus.

The Oluomo of Edeland, whose marriage 30 years ago was officiated by the late Imam, described the loss as a personal one to him.

He said, “I received with rude shock, the death of my father, Sheikh Adekilekun. Late Sheikh Adekilekun was not only a father figure to me but also one of my ardent supporters. I am going to miss his words of wisdom and encouragement.”

“The late Imam’s contributions to the development of Ede and the Muslim community can not be overemphasized.”

Bello extended his condolences to the family of the late Imam, the people of Ede, and the Ansar-ud-deen Society.

“In this trying period, I urge the Adekilekun family, the Muslim community, and the good people of Ede to take solace in the fact that Baba dedicated his life to serving humanity,” he added.

Bello, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State was until September 2023 the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Mexico with concurrent responsibilities to Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Panama.
