In what some people have described as a move to curry favour, the Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs, Ganiyu Olaoluwa, has donated two vehicles for the re-election bid of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The vehicles which were handed over to Governor Adeleke included a Hummer bus (2010) and a Toyota Sienna (2006).
Unconfirmed rumour had it that the former Osun PDP chairman was eyeing the Osun Central Senatorial ticket for the 2027 election.
It would be recalled that the incumbent lawmaker representing the district, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, recently defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Apart from Olaoluwa, other persons rumoured to be eyeing the Osun Central Senatorial ticket under the PDP include the current lawmaker representing Ifedayo/Boluwaduro and Ila Federal Constituency, Mr Clement Olohunwa.
Also, the Federal Commissioner representing Osun at the Federal Public Complaints Commission, Mr Kunle Alao, was said to have the backing of stakeholders of the PDP for the position.
Similarly, the former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Lasun Yusuf, is another name rumoured to be interested in the PDP Senatorial ticket.
Meanwhile, speaking during the handing over of the vehicles at the Government House, Osogbo, on Friday, Olaoluwa said the donation was his modest way of appreciating the Governor’s people-centred governance and visible achievements across infrastructure, education, healthcare, welfare, and community development.
He reaffirmed his “full, unalloyed support for Governor Adeleke’s re-election and continuity till 2030 and beyond.”
