Fresh facts have emerged over the claim by the immediate past Commissioner for Education in Osun State, Folorunso Bamisayemi that a former deputy governor in the state, Senator Iyiola Omisore saved the All Progressives Congress from eviction from its state secretariat in Osogbo.
Bamisayemi had in a video, said Omisore gave the leadership of the APC in the state money to pay for the rent of the party secretariat when the owner of the property was about to evict them.
However, investigations by osun.life showed that, contrary to Bamisayemi’s claim, it was the current national secretary of the party, Senator Ajibola Basiru who saved the Osun APC from eviction.
According to documents sighted by this medium, the former Osun Central lawmaker paid the sum of N14m as rent for the party secretariat directly to the property agent’s account.
osun.life cited a letter dated March 04, 2025 which was addressed to the chairman of the APC in Osun State, by the J.P. Jones & Co, a property consultant and solicitor for and on behalf of the property owner (R.A Olaiya Ltd), demanding the payment of outstanding rent and announcing increment in the rent.
The letter asked the party to vacate the secretariat if payment is not made within seven days from the receipt of the notice.
Part of the letter reads, “Your rent in the property had long become expired by virtue of your inability, refusal and will full intention not to pay your rent therein:
“Having owed our client a staggering sum of N14,000,000.00 (Fourteen Million Naira) without any glimpse of hope towards paying up, it was agreed that you be issued with a seven (7) Days notice to
pay up your rent therein or quit and deliver the property to our client
immediately.
“Failure on your part to adhere strictly to the above directives, we shall not hesitate to apply to the appropriate court to forcefully eject you and recover all monies owed and mesne profit thereto.”
Meanwhile, in a payment transfer receipt obtained by this medium, Basiru Surajudeen Ajibola paid the sum of N14m to the bank account of the property consultant domiciled with Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) on the 8th of April, 2025 for the outstanding rent.
osun.life also gathered that apart from the paid rent, the national secretary has also expended another N12m on certain renovations within the state secretariat covering plumbing works, toilet and public toilet among others.
This latest development questions the veracity of the claim of Folorunso Bamisayemi and his principal, Iyiola Omisore about the payment of the rent, who Omisore gave the said funds to and what purpose it was used for.
