Adeleke lauds Tinubu for restoring history in schools

By Tunde Olamilekan

Governor Ademola Adeleke on Friday commended President Bola Tinubu for restoring history as a compulsory subject of study in schools.

This was as he charged Nigerian leaders to author a book about their lives to conserve and preserve history for future generations.

The governor gave the charge in Osogbo during the book launch in honour of the 15th coronation anniversary of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji.

Adeleke, who noted that he will also unveil his biography during his next birthday, said the culture of writing biographies and autobiographies is a commendable contribution to scholarship.

Adeleke said, “Leaders and top officials across the society should therefore author a book about their lives. We must conserve and preserve our human history for future generations. My Spokesperson is already working on a biography to be unveiled during my birthday in 2026.

“The goal is to allow the citizens of today and tomorrow to read about the mindset of the leader, his hopes and aspirations, his challenges and successes. Biography and autobiography put readers inside the interior of leaders’ successes and setbacks.

“I also want to commend the Federal Government for restoring history as a compulsory subject of study in our schools. The decision by the Federal Ministry of Education is primed to bridge a major gap in our educational institutions.”
