Hierarchy: Oluwo currently occupying my position – Ataoja

By Tunde Olamilekan

The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, has claimed that the position currently occupied by the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, in the hierarchy of traditional rulers in Osun State was meant for Osogboland.

Oba Oyetunji, in a video posted on social media, said the fourth position, which the Oluwo currently occupies, was for the Ataoja.

According to him, the position was given to Iwo land when the late Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Iyiola Oyewale, traveled abroad during his reign.

He, however, said he was working underground to ensure that he retains his forefathers’ rightful position.

The monarch said, “Late Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Iyiola Oyewale, during his reign went abroad, and before he came back, his position was given to the Oluwo of Iwoland. That was how Oluwo became the number four in the hierarchy. That position is for Ataoja.

“When I spoke about it some time ago, people twisted words, and that was the reason why I was silent on that matter. However, I’m working underground. I’m not fighting any monarch but Ataoja’s stool is number four in Osun State.”
