A gubernatorial aspirant under the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has promised to prioritize agriculture if elected Governor of the state.

Oyebamiji, who is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, National Inland Waterways Authority, NIWA, stated this while speaking to journalists after visiting Atakumosa West and Atakumosa East Local Governments for his consultation.

The governorship hopeful said he is committed to redefining and stimulating the socioeconomic fortunes of the state by giving worthy attention to agriculture as a catalyst for food sufficiency and revenue generation.

“I want to assure our people in the two councils that when I am elected as Governor, we will prioritize agriculture. This environment is known for agriculture and we will do everything to support that critical sector of the economy. I have always been saying that to revive our economy, there is a need to go back to Agriculture. Agriculture, in any form, will have a multiplier effect on our economy and I have promised our people here that we are going to support them.

“We are going to create an enabling environment for enterprises to thrive and encourage investors to establish factories and industries that would help to integrate the agricultural farm produce.

“As a finance expert and economist, I know the importance of agriculture in any economy. I want to assure our people that we are going to play a vital role that would scale up the economy and have a great impact on the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of our nation in general and our state in particular”, Oyebamiji assured.
