Residents lament presence of miscreants under Oke-Fia bridge

By Tunde Olamilekan

Some residents of Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, have raised concerns over the persistent presence of miscreants under the ongoing overhead bridge at Oke-Fia area.

The residents warned that the bridge, which is yet to be completed, was gradually being taken over by hoodlums.

When osun.life visited the area on Wednesday, there was presence of a woman selling alcoholic drinks under the bridge, with some people seen drinking and smoking there.

Also, some mini-bus (Korope) drivers have turned the under bridge into a car park.

A resident, Oladele Ayoola who spoke the osun.life urged the state government to address the issue before it degenerated into a worse situation.

Ayoola noted that if not quickly nipped in the bud, the situation will turn ugly with the miscreants wreaking havoc on innocent people.

“The government needs to address this on time before it turns to something else. Imagine a bridge under construction has been turned into a beer parlour. What will happen once the bridge is opened for use?

“My fear is that if these miscreants are not chased away instantly, they will keep expanding until that place becomes a criminal haven,” Ayoola stated.
