The candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Osogbo/Olorunda/Irepodun/Orolu Federal Constituency in the last general election, Mrs. Abosede Ogo-Oluwakitan, has explained reasons for her absence from her constituency since she lost the election.
The former House of Representatives said she was heavily pregnant during that election, adding that she needed time off to attend to her child.
Ogo-Oluwakitan stated this on Thursday in Ifon, headquarters of Orolu Local Government while addressing members of the APC in her constituency.
She said, “A lot happened during the last election. I was nine months gone on the day of that election. You know if a woman gave birth, she would at least give the baby a year. That was what happened.
“There has been a lot of rumour flying about on whether I’m interested in politics again or not. That is why I decided to come home.
“Even though I’m not at home, I’ve been actively performing my responsibility at the party and the party officials here present can testify to that.”
Earlier during her visit to the Olufon of Ifon, Oba Peter Akinyooye, the APC chieftain declared her intention to once again contest for the House of Representatives seat.
Ogo-Oluwakitan who sought the monarch’s royal blessing, pledged to serve with sincerity and unwavering dedication if she is elected.
It would be recalled that Ogo-Oluwakitan secured a total vote of 58,992 during the last election under the APC.
She was, however, defeated by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Adewale Morufu (Gangaria), who pulled a total vote of 71,677.
