The Osun State Police Command has arrested two persons – Adebayo Abeeb (27) and Fawas Akeem (19) for allegedly killing a 26-year-old motorcyclist, Segun Olatunji in Iwo town.
A statement by the spokesperson for the Osun Police Command, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, on Tuesday, noted that the suspects posed as farmers and employed the service of the deceased to convey them from Odo-Ori area of the two to their farmland along Olupon.
According to a statement, the suspects on the way to the farm stopped the motorcyclist and slit his throat with a knife.
Ojelabi added that the suspects were arrested in Ibafo, Ogun State, while attempting to sell the deceased’s motorcycle.
He said, “Immediately the report was made, Police Detectives of the Command swiftly put necessary investigation mechanisms in place and fortunately, the duo of Habeeb Adedayo ‘m and Akeem Fawas ‘m were apprehended at Ibafo, Ogun State, while attempting to sell the deceased’s motorcycle. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to having posed as farmers and lured the deceased by employing his service to convey them from the Odo-Ori area, Iwo, to their farmland along Olupon, Iwo, with an enticing sum of five thousand naira (N5,000).
“The suspects further confessed that, after reaching a certain location, they asked the deceased to stop; Habeeb Adedayo stabbed him in the neck, dragged him from the motorcycle, and slit his throat with a knife. The suspects admitted to have committed the crime.
“Furthermore, Habeeb Adedayo confessed that he, along with three others, excluding Akeem Fawas, had previously carried out three successful operations in areas such as Ori-Eru, Agbowo, and Ebu Alare in Iwo. One motorcycle and a knife were recovered as exhibits.”
