By Tunde Olamilekan

The reinstated Executive Chairman of Ede South Local Government under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Kola Salami, has disclosed that former Commissioner for Finance in Osun, Bola Oyebamiji, has an edge over other gubernatorial aspirants under the APC.

Salami said Oyebamiji, who is the Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), having served under the last two administrations in Osun, has the knowledge of what the state needs.

The council boss who spoke on a private radio station programme in Osogbo on Sunday, said even though other aspirants in the party a qualified, Oyebamiji has shown that he is the best man for the job.

Salami said, “Bola Oyebamiji has a competitive edge over the other aspirants. He has served as Commissioner for Finance under the last two administrations and he knows what Osun really needs.

“When he was the Director of Osun State Investment Agency, he performed exceptionally well. So I feel he is the one needed to move Osun State forward.”

When asked what the chances of the party are in the forthcoming gubernatorial election, Salami said the APC will defeat the incumbent Governor, Ademola Adeleke in a free, fair and credible election.

According to the APC council boss, the development witnessed in the state under the current administration does not correspond with the amount of money coming from the federal government.

Salami also said some PDP bigwigs have left the party to join the APC due to the way Adeleke is running the government.

“Since 2022, when the PDP took over, we know the number of chieftains of that party who have crossed to our party (APC) because they are not happy with how Adeleke is running the government.

“Also, President Tinubu has restructured governance in Nigeria and this has led to an increase in allocations to states in Nigeria.

“The money coming to Osun from the federal government is now three times the previous amount, but we are not seeing any development that is commensurate with such an amount,” he added.
